Job Summary

The Shire of Broome is seeking a practical, highly capable, and values-driven engineering or civil management professional to fill the core leadership position of Operations Coordinator. Reporting directly to the Manager Operations and working out of the municipal Works Department, the successful candidate will drive the end-to-end planning, asset programming, and operational delivery of the Shire's Annual Construction and Infrastructure Maintenance portfolios. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic, hands-on oversight for all CapEx civil infrastructure projects, ensuring benchmarks are completed safely, on time, and within budget parameters.
  • Govern the full maintenance lifecycle of extensive sealed and unsealed road networks, pedestrian footpaths, playgrounds, shade structures, and public signage.
  • Manage the central Workshop and Fleet functions, optimizing preventative and reactive servicing rosters for heavy plant, trucks, and light vehicles.
  • Formulate, justify, and monitor operational expenditure (OpEx) budgets, contract terms, procurement pipelines, and asset lifecycle risks.
  • Develop, audit, and implement compliant Traffic Management Plans (TMPs) adhering cleanly to state legislative frameworks and safety standards.
  • Supervise, coach, and elevate a dedicated internal workforce of operational supervisors, heavy mechanics, and civil support staff.
