Job Summary
The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking passionate and skilled Casual Swim School Instructors to join the Corporate & Commercial directorate at the Goldfields Oasis. Reporting directly to the Senior Officer Swim School, the successful candidates will be responsible for teaching and assessing swimming and critical aquatic survival skills to students of various age cohorts and skill brackets. Key Responsibilities
Plan, conduct, and deliver high-quality swimming and water safety lessons, actively modifying teaching techniques to suit individual student profiles.
Assess student capabilities continuously and provide clear, regular progress updates to the Senior Officer Swim School or Pool Deck Supervisor.
Uphold the highest standard of safety for all students in the water, and immediately correct or report any unsafe structural conditions around the deck.
Deliver exceptional customer service and public relations, maintaining a friendly, helpful, and professional disposition toward all leisure center patrons.
Maintain highly accurate records of class participants, attendance data, and other administrative paperwork as required by management.
Ensure all designated Swim School resources, flotation assets, and training tools are used, maintained, and stored correctly at the end of shifts.
Adhere to strict operational KPIs, including maintaining at least a 90% attendance rate for rostered shifts, reviewing lesson plans quarterly, and attending a minimum of two team meetings annually.
Skills & Requirements
Must hold a current, valid Swimming Instructor Accreditation from an approved domestic body (e.g., AUSTSWIM, Swim Australia, ASCTA, Active Training).
Must hold a current HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certificate.
Possess a valid, current Western Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC).
Must present a current, satisfactory National Police Clearance certificate.
Possess a valid Western Australian “C” Class driver’s licence.
