Job Summary

The City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder is seeking motivated, proactive, and vigilant team members to join the Corporate & Commercial directorate as Casual Bronze Lifeguards. Reporting directly to the Senior Officer Aquatics at the Goldfields Oasis, successful candidates will be responsible for the diligent, safe, and professional supervision of the aquatics infrastructure, including the main pool, spa, and sauna environments. Key performance markers focus heavily on maintaining unwavering deck vigilance, performing proactive patron saves, administering emergency first aid, and ensuring pristine visual hygiene across the facility's shared spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise pool, spa, and sauna sectors in a mature, reliable manner, ensuring complete visual vigilance over the pool deck at all times.
  • Administer immediate first aid, manage emergency water rescues, and initiate swift emergency action protocols in strict line with site policies.
  • Clear and structure pool equipment, manage custom lane configurations, and track the functional integrity of aquatic facility resources.
  • Maintain high visual presentation, performing light maintenance and cleaning routines across the pool area, storerooms, first aid room, and guest changing blocks.
  • Address patron needs or safety concerns immediately, delivering high-quality public relations in complete alignment with the City’s Customer Service Charter.
  • Log task summaries accurately and ensure all critical documentation is filed in accordance with the City's Record Keeping Plan.
  • Collaborate cleanly within the Oasis Aquatics crew to develop efficient, WHS-compliant operational practices and mitigate pool-deck hazards.

Skills & Requirements

  • Must hold a valid, current Bronze Medallion certification from the Royal Life Saving Society of Western Australia (or approved domestic equivalent).
  • Must possess a valid, current First Aid Certificate (inclusive of up-to-date Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation - CPR data).
  • Possess a valid, current Western Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • Must present a current, satisfactory National Police Clearance certificate.
  • Possess a valid, unencumbered Western Australian “C” Class driver’s licence.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, public presentation, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding of personal duty of care responsibilities and broader Work Health and Safety (WHS) codes within a dynamic leisure center.
