Key Responsibilities
Carry out comprehensive HVAC/R installations, preventative maintenance, scheduled servicing, and statutory leak testing across corporate, commercial, or industrial facilities.
Perform rapid, accurate fault diagnosis, gas pressure troubleshooting, and high-quality reactive repairs on commercial chillers, package units, split systems, cooling towers, and heavy commercial cool rooms or freezer plants.
Ensure all air conditioning and refrigeration installations, gas reclaiming, and modifications conform strictly to AS/NZS 5149 standards, ARC codes of practice, and statutory environmental guidelines.
Manage digital work orders via the asset management system (CMMS), logging completed tasks, temperature tracking files, pressure readings, and gas usage records.
For Leading Hand Applicants: Actively coordinate daily on-site HVAC/R trade crews, manage labor allocation, coordinate specialized trade materials, conduct daily pre-starts/toolbox talks, and oversee apprentice training.
Collaborate dynamically within multi-trade environments alongside electricians, plumbers, and facilities managers to complete complex asset upgrades smoothly.
Champion site safety by drafting Job Safety Analyses (JSA), evaluating Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and maintaining isolation lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) integrity.
Skills & Requirements
Must hold a valid, accredited Australian Trade Certificate III in Air-conditioning and Refrigeration.
Must hold an active, valid ARC Full Refrigerant Handling Licence (Tick Licence) and a current NSW Fair Trading Refrigeration and/or Air Conditioning Mechanic Licence.
Proven post-trade experience in a commercial facility, industrial plant, resource sector, or heavy infrastructure HVAC/R maintenance environment.
Strong technical capacity to read, interpret, and execute detailed mechanical schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC blueprints.
Must possess a valid, current Australian Driver’s Licence to navigate regional client sites safely.
Must hold a valid General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
