Job Summary

Compass Group Australia is seeking proactive, safety-focused, and trade-qualified Electricians and Leading Hand Electricians for upcoming deployment opportunities in Dubbo, NSW. Whether working as a hands-on maintenance tradesperson or stepping up to guide field crews as an Electrical Leading Hand, you will play a vital role in ensuring the continuous reliability, electrical safety, and compliance of large-scale commercial facilities, utility assets, or remote operational camps. Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out comprehensive electrical installations, preventative maintenance, statutory inspections, and testing across corporate, commercial, or industrial facilities.
  • Perform rapid, accurate fault diagnosis, circuit troubleshooting, and high-quality reactive repairs on power distribution systems, HVAC wiring, and general light and power layouts.
  • Ensure all electrical installations and modifications conform strictly to AS/NZS 3000 (Wiring Rules), site-specific technical guidelines, and statutory safety codes.
  • Manage digital work orders via the asset management system (CMMS), logging completed tasks, safety checks, electrical certificates, and parts usage.
  • For Leading Hand Applicants: Actively coordinate daily on-site trade crews, manage labor allocation, coordinate materials, conduct daily pre-starts/toolbox talks, and oversee apprentice training.
  • Collaborate dynamically within multi-trade environments alongside plumbers, carpenters, and facilities managers to complete complex asset upgrades smoothly.
  • Champion site safety by drafting Job Safety Analyses (JSA), evaluating Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), and maintaining isolation lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) integrity.

Skills & Requirements

  • Must hold a valid, Unrestricted Australian Electrical Trade Qualification and an active NSW Electrical Licence.
  • Proven post-trade experience in a commercial facility, industrial plant, resource sector, or heavy infrastructure maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency utilizing specialized testing equipment, digital multimeters, insulation testers, and hand-held trade tools safely.
  • Strong technical capacity to read, interpret, and execute detailed electrical schematics, line diagrams, and building blueprints.
  • Must possess a valid, current Australian Driver’s Licence to navigate regional client sites safely.
  • Must hold a valid General Construction Induction Card (White Card).
  • Current CPR / LVR (Low Voltage Rescue) certifications are highly valued.
  • Must pass standard pre-employment screening processes, including a comprehensive National Police Check and a medical clearance test containing drug and alcohol analysis.
  • Leading Hand Requirements: Demonstrated past experience supervising small trade teams, running safety briefs, and controlling project delivery metrics.
