Job Summary

The Shire of East Pilbara—the largest local government authority by land area in Western Australia—is seeking a collaborative, highly organized, and client-focused supervisor to lead front-of-house operations at the Newman Recreation Centre (Position ref: # 143). Reporting within the Recreation management structure, the successful candidate will manage, train, and schedule customer service staff while driving business administration and operational processes. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor front-line customer service staff executing daily administrative workflows, guest arrivals, and program registrations at the recreation centre.
  • Oversee business administration and operational processes within the facility to maintain optimal transactional accuracy and clerical efficiency.
  • Provide highly developed, proactive customer service and effectively resolve client conflicts or operational bottlenecks to support a welcoming community environment.
  • Interpret and apply relevant legislation, health guidelines, and facility standards relating to leisure spaces, public events, and community activities.
  • Manage staff rosters, execute workplace inductions, and actively drive the professional development of the front-of-house service team.
  • Conduct regular monitoring of reception spaces and administrative logs to ensure complete compliance with workplace health, safety, and risk management policies.
  • Engage positively with a culturally diverse range of regional stakeholders, local families, facility members, and internal Shire units.

Skills & Requirements

  • Qualifications: Certificate III level training or equivalent demonstrated professional experience in business, hospitality, or recreation facility service frameworks.
  • Safety & Compliance Tickets: Must hold a current, valid Provide First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or higher) and a current Western Australian Working With Children Check (WWCC).
  • Licences: Must hold a current, valid Class 'C' Driver's Licence valid for use within Western Australia.
  • Demonstrated experience directly leading, scheduling, and developing a small, customer-focused municipal, retail, or hospitality field team.
  • Sound knowledge of modern workplace health and safety (WHS) standards, facility risk mitigation practices, and business administration procedures.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven capability to manage difficult client situations, draft concise service logs, and interact with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Work Environment & Health Requirements

  • Facility Footprint: This role operates directly within an active, multi-purpose sport and recreation facility, requiring regular movement across front-of-house reception spaces, office spaces, and public activity zones.
