About this opportunity

An exciting opportunity to join our dedicated team in the Intensive Care Unit at the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) – Flinders Medical Centre. In these full-time or part-time ongoing roles, you will provide high-quality supportive care to critically ill patients within a 32-bed tertiary intensive care unit. Flinders Medical Centre provides care for the continuum of the life span, offering a unique opportunity to care for paediatric and obstetric patients alongside the full spectrum of adult ICU care requirements, including trauma and ECMO.

Job Summary

Operating within the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network, you will play a vital role in providing person-centered clinical care, supporting health service systems, and managing patient care plans. You will assist in coordinating care delivery challenges, contribute to process improvements, and serve as a mentor and educator to guide students and new staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing direct person-centred nursing care and individual case management to patients on a shift-by-shift basis in the Intensive Care Unit.
  • Assessing clinical status of patients and providing appropriate ICU therapies in collaboration with the ICU multi-disciplinary team.
  • Providing support and guidance to newer or less experienced staff and student nurses providing nursing care.
  • Providing health promotion and education to patients and carers to improve the health outcomes of the individual.

Skills & Requirements

  • Clinical Competence: Registered or Clinical Nurse committed to delivering highly safe, professional, and consistent nursing practices. To be successful, you must be a qualified ICU nurse or have 2-3 years of acute care nursing in the Australian Healthcare system looking to commence ICU specialisation.
  • Leadership & Mentoring: Proven motivation to support and guide less experienced staff, fostering a proactive learning environment. For the RN2C level, you must have at least three years, full-time equivalent, post-registration experience with experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Professional Development: Strong commitment to continuously developing personal clinical knowledge, skills, and evidence-based frameworks through ongoing experience.
