About This Opportunity

An excellent opportunity is available for Registered Nurses and Clinical Nurses to join the Division of Paediatric Medicine at the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) in North Adelaide, South Australia. These temporary full-time and part-time positions provide an opportunity to deliver high-quality, person-centred nursing care within one of South Australia’s leading healthcare organisations supporting babies, children, young people, and families.

Working within the Paediatric Emergency Department and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PED/PICU) environment, successful applicants will contribute to safe clinical care, education, quality improvement, and multidisciplinary collaboration. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide proficient, person-centred clinical nursing care to paediatric patients within the defined clinical area.
  • Deliver safe and effective nursing care while applying clinical knowledge, judgement, and professional standards.
  • Provide individual case management and coordinate patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Support the Nurse Unit Manager and healthcare leadership team with clinical, management, and education activities.
  • Participate in clinical teaching, supervision, and learning support for students, new employees, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses.
  • Contribute to clinical audits, research activities, quality improvement initiatives, and service evaluation.
  • Promote continuity and consistency of patient care across paediatric healthcare services.
  • Maintain professional nursing standards while supporting positive health outcomes for children, young people, and families.

Skills & Requirements

  • Professional Registration: Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and able to hold a current practising certificate.
  • Clinical Knowledge: Demonstrated competence and understanding of relevant nursing standards, legislation, codes, and professional requirements.
  • Paediatric Nursing Capability: Ability to provide safe and effective nursing care within paediatric healthcare environments.
  • Leadership Skills: Experience supporting student nurses, enrolled nurses, and less experienced registered nurses through clinical guidance and education.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and prioritisation skills within a complex clinical setting.
  • Quality Improvement: Knowledge and experience applying quality improvement principles within healthcare environments.
