An exceptional early childhood leadership opportunity is available for a qualified and experienced Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) / Educational Leader to join the Childhood Early Learning team at Northern Midlands Council. Offered primarily on a permanent, full-time basis (with part-time requests considered), this role is positioned at the center of Council’s operational expansion as the team transitions into a brand-new, larger, purpose-built Perth Early Learning Centre. Reporting directly to the Childcare Director, you will act as a second ECT/Educational Leader, serving as a positive mentor and coach to a dedicated crew of Early Childhood Educators. The role balances direct programming with collaborative leadership to shape enriched learning environments, elevate pedagogical practices, and deliver high-quality early childhood services across the municipality.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the ongoing development, curriculum structuring, and operational implementation of early childhood educational programs within the Service.
• Serve as a supportive, proactive mentor and pedagogical coach to motivate, guide, and upskill the educator team.
• Promote, embed, and support a comprehensive understanding of the planning cycle, the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), My Time Our Place (MTOP), and the National Quality Framework (NQF).
• Work collaboratively with internal educator teams, attending children, and families to construct enriched, highly inclusive quality learning environments.
• Monitor, evaluate, and elevate daily pedagogical practices to match rigorous safety standards and child-centered care objectives.
• Identify, record, and proactively manage workplace health and safety risks associated with early learning spaces to protect staff and children.

Skills & Requirements

• Qualifications: Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) qualification approved explicitly by the Australian Children’s Education and Quality Authority (ACECQA) or proof of actively working towards completion.
• Professional Background: At least 2 years of paid, demonstrable working history acting as an Early Childhood Educator specifically across the 0–5 age demographic.
• Communication Excellence: Outstanding verbal and written communication strengths to interface fluidly and sensitively with both adults and young children.
• Personal Attributes: Proven capacity to demonstrate deep sensitivity, continuous patience, kindness, and a highly proactive approach to child support.
• Licensing Prerequisites: Must possess a current valid Tasmanian Driver’s Licence and hold a valid First Aid Certificate (or demonstrate absolute willingness to undergo immediate training).
