About This Opportunity

An outstanding opportunity is available for motivated medical practitioners to join the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network (SALHN) as Service Geriatric Medicine Registrars and Resident Medical Officers (RMOs) based at Flinders Medical Centre. Multiple full-time positions are available until November 2029 within the Rehabilitation, Aged and Palliative Care Division.

Working within one of South Australia's leading tertiary healthcare facilities, you will provide high-quality clinical services to geriatric medicine patients while collaborating closely with consultant physicians, multidisciplinary healthcare teams, and junior medical staff. This role offers valuable experience in comprehensive geriatric assessment, rehabilitation medicine, continuity of care planning, clinical education, and multidisciplinary patient management. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality clinical services to geriatric medicine patients under the supervision of Consultant Physicians.
  • Assess, diagnose, and manage patients within the Geriatric Medicine service.
  • Coordinate patient follow-up care and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
  • Maintain comprehensive and accurate clinical records documenting patient management decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, patients, families, and external care providers.
  • Respond appropriately and professionally to patient and family concerns or complaints.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and collaborative patient management activities.
  • Support the education, supervision, and mentoring of junior doctors, registrars, and medical students.
  • Contribute to clinical audit activities, quality improvement initiatives, and continuing medical education programs.

Skills & Requirements

  • Medical Qualification: MBBS or equivalent medical qualification recognised by the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Registration: Eligible for General Registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Clinical Competence: Demonstrated experience and competence in the practice of medicine and patient management.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
  • Leadership Ability: Ability to supervise, support, and mentor junior medical staff.
