Job Summary
The City of Ballarat is seeking an energetic, motivated, and customer-focused Health Club Officer to join their dedicated team at the Ballarat Aquatic & Lifestyle Centre (BALC) on a casual basis. Operating under the Community Wellbeing department, this role is responsible for ensuring the gym floor remains a safe, clean, welcoming, and highly motivational environment. The successful candidate will conduct health and wellbeing evaluations, deliver program inductions, provide active on-floor gym supervision, and respond proactively to day-to-day user inquiries over a flexible 7-day roster.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough health and wellbeing screenings, intake evaluations, and tailored fitness assessments for a diverse range of facility members.
- Design and implement safe, customized, and effective exercise programs that cater dynamically to individual fitness levels and goals.
- Deliver structured gym floor inductions, actively instructing and correcting users on proper exercise techniques and equipment handling.
- Maintain highly visible gym floor supervision, actively motivating and engaging with participants to safely maximize their workout experience.
- Perform basic administrative logging, equipment safety checks, and basic sanitization/maintenance duties to preserve premium center hygiene.
- Understand and adhere cleanly to all facility safety, emergency evacuation protocols, and Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) procedures.
Skills & Requirements
- Must hold a minimum qualification of Certificate III or IV in Fitness from an accredited training provider.
- Current active registration with an approved fitness body (such as Fitness Australia or Physical Activity Australia) is highly required.
- Proven experience operating within a public gym or commercial health club setting delivering assessments and programming.
- Strong, refined interpersonal and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated natural ability to build supportive relationships with diverse center users.
- Must possess a current, valid Level 2 First Aid Certificate (including active CPR registration) and a current paid Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- A valid National Police Check clearance and full flexibility to work variable shifts between 6:00 AM and 9:00 PM across a 7-day roster.
