An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled and compassionate Midwife to join the Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network Aboriginal Family Birthing Program based in Gawler, South Australia.
This permanent part-time position provides high-quality, person-centred nursing and midwifery care within a collaborative clinical environment. The successful applicant will assess patient needs, coordinate care, and work closely with multidisciplinary teams and Aboriginal Maternal Infant Care workers to provide culturally safe maternity services for women, babies, and families.
The role provides an opportunity to contribute to service improvement, support less experienced staff and students, participate in shift coordination, and apply evidence-based practice to improve community health outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Assess patient and client needs and plan, deliver, and coordinate person-centred nursing and midwifery care.
Provide culturally safe maternity care in partnership with Aboriginal Maternal Infant Care workers, women, babies, and families.
Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to ensure safe and effective care delivery.
Undertake shift coordination responsibilities and support effective daily service operations.
Provide guidance, education, and support to students, new staff, and colleagues.
Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and evidence-based practice.
Support continuous improvement activities that strengthen maternity service quality and patient outcomes.
Skills & Requirements
Professional Registration: Hold or be eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and maintain current AHPRA registration.
Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated ability to provide safe, effective, and evidence-based midwifery care.
Cultural Capability: Ability and commitment to provide culturally safe care while working alongside Aboriginal Maternal Infant Care workers.
