About This Opportunity

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Principal Work Health and Safety (WHS) Consultant to join the Women’s and Children’s Health Network (WCHN) in North Adelaide. This permanent full-time leadership position plays a critical role in delivering a comprehensive, data-driven Work Health and Safety service that promotes a safe, healthy and compliant workplace across one of South Australia's leading healthcare organisations.

Reporting to the Director, WHS & Injury Management and Worker Health, you will lead strategic WHS initiatives, ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation and SA Health policies, provide expert consultancy to senior leaders, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen workplace safety and organisational performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of prompt, effective and data-driven Work Health and Safety services across WCHN.
  • Develop and implement strategic WHS initiatives that support organisational objectives and legislative compliance.
  • Provide expert WHS advice and consultancy to executives, managers and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Work Health and Safety legislation, SA Health policies, accreditation standards and organisational procedures.
  • Analyse WHS data, identify emerging risks and develop evidence-based improvement strategies.
  • Promote a positive safety culture through monitoring, reporting, auditing and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support integrated multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve safe systems of work and zero harm objectives.
  • Lead WHS projects and contribute to organisational risk management initiatives.

Skills & Requirements

  • WHS Leadership: Significant experience developing and implementing Work Health and Safety strategies within large and complex organisations.
  • Legislative Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of Australian WHS legislation, codes of practice, standards and risk management frameworks.
  • Strategic Consulting: Demonstrated ability to provide high-level WHS leadership, consultancy and advice to senior stakeholders.
  • Project Management: Experience managing WHS projects, organisational change initiatives and system improvements.
  • Data Analysis: Strong capability in analysing WHS performance data and producing strategic reports.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Continuous Improvement: Proven ability to foster a positive safety culture through innovation and quality improvement initiatives.
