Job Summary

Toowoomba Regional Council is seeking a highly motivated, imaginative, and technically proficient Landscape Architect to join their Parks & Recreation Services Branch at the Charlton Principal Depot. Reporting directly to the Senior Landscape Architect, this role operates under limited direction to undertake, manage, and execute end-to-end landscape design outcomes across a vast 7,000-hectare public park, sports asset, and heritage-listed garden network. The successful candidate will provide authoritative design guidance, manage external consultants, oversee designated development budgets, and ensure that complex landscape projects integrate cleanly with the region's strong population growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake and manage detailed landscape architectural designs, documentation packages, and spatial outcomes for the region's diverse open space networks.
  • Deliver professional, authoritative advice and make proactive policy contributions across a variety of community development programs.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle of green assets, seamlessly steering initiatives from initial site analysis and pre-planning stages through to final physical delivery.
  • Coordinate, brief, and manage external multi-disciplinary design consultants while monitoring related construction and consultancy work budgets.
  • Ensure all landscape design components are integrated to a premium standard, preserving heritage values while supporting regional liveability.
  • Utilize advanced CAD systems, Adobe Creative Suite programs, and structural free-hand sketching to formulate and communicate design intents clearly.

Skills & Requirements

  • Proven experience in landscape architecture, site master planning, or open space project management, ideally within an Australian corporate or public sector context.
  • Advanced, highly refined design and graphic presentation skills, with demonstrated fluency in site analysis, documentation, and technical detailing.
  • Strong proficiency operating industry-standard digital tools, including Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, Adobe Creative Cloud, and spatial visualization programs.
  • Refined interpersonal and project coordination capabilities, enabling effective management of consultancies and successful collaboration across internal council branches.
  • Posses current Australian 'C' Class Driver’s License
  • Must successfully pass a mandatory pre-employment National Criminal History Check and a standard occupational medical evaluation.
